Speaker 1.
If you are fond of weather catastrophe films like me, you'll enjoy a new series Wild Weather. It's all about hurricanes, tornadoes and storms. Everything shown on the screen happened in real life and very often was filmed by people who were not cameramen or directors. They were unexpectedly caught in a storm or tornado and survived. No tricks or computer graphics are used. That's the best thing about it.
Speaker 2.
Viewers, most of the time, believe that everything they see in the wildlife documentaries is real, that is filmed in the wild. But not long ago I discovered that some programme-makers use animals from the zoos to reduce the risk. It made me mad. They lied!!!
Speaker 3.
I dislike numerous cruel scenes in environmental and wildlife programmes. It might be quite natural, but scenes of hunting, killing baby animals make me switch off the TV. This might spoil my evening's viewing. Know what I mean? And I am not alone in this.
Speaker 4.
Animal Hospital was really a great success, a chance to learn how to help your sick pet. They offered an eight-week course on TV. I like the host very much — Dr. Rolf Harris is very friendly, very professional and a perfect teacher. Now I know how to help my cat, if needed, before the vet comes.
Speaker 5.
I say, computer technology today has changed everything. It has made time travel possible! BBC Discovery Channel showed us the ancient mysterious world of dinosaurs. It was amazing! It was only the use of computer techniques that made it possible to recreate the scenes of dinosaurs' lives. The images are very realistic-

Текст (аудио)
Now we are ready to start.
Passenger: Hey Taxi!
Driver: Where to?
Passenger: Well, the National Museum of Art, and ....
Driver: Sure. No problem.
Passenger: Uh. Excuse me. How long will it take to get there?
Driver: Well, that all depends on the traffic, but it shouldn't take more than twenty minutes for an average driver. [Oh]. And I have been driving for ten years, so we should be able to get there in less than twelve minutes.
Passenger: Okay. Uh, sorry for asking, but do you have any idea how much the fare will be? The last time I was here, it was last year, it cost me 18 dollars.
Driver: Right, it shouldn't be more than 18 dollars ... not including a tip of course.
Passenger: Oh, and by the way, do you know what time the museum closes?
Driver: Well, I would guess around 6:00 o'clock.
Passenger: Uh, and what time is it now?
Driver: Yeah. It's four o'clock.
Passenger: Thanks.
Driver: Did I get you right that this IS your first visit to the city?
Passenger: No, why?
Driver: Well, you can tell tourists from a mile away in this city because they walk down the street looking straight up at the skyscrapers, just like you did.
Passenger: You see it is my second visit here but I like to look at skyscrapers. Oh, before I forget, can you recommend any good restaurants downtown that offer meals at a reasonable price?
Driver: Umm .'. . Well, the Mexican restaurant, La Fajita, is fantastic.
Passenger: Mexican? I've never been a big fan of Mexican food.
Driver: You see, it's not as inexpensive as other places I know, but the decor is very authentic, and the portions are larger than most other places I've been to. Passenger: Sounds great! How do I get there from the museum?
Driver: Well, let me think. There are buses that run that way, but you would have to transfer a couple of times. And there are taxis too, but, unfortunately, they don't run by the museum that often. You can also catch the subway, which is right outside the museum, and you won't have to transfer. Otherwise, I'm afraid you may get lost.
Passenger: Okay. Thanks.

Текст (аудио)
Now we are ready to start.
Tom: I was an exchange student in Denmark in 2005 and had an absolutely awful experience with my host family and my school. They weren't the friendliest of people.
Jack: Oh really? Well, with me there were things that made me a bit sad but in general I enjoyed being there. Yes, I know, people can seem a little cold and, yes, even rude.
Tom: That's it. And in my very first week I got insulted by a bus driver when I was trying to clip my card. Of course it can happen anywhere, but it was a bit sad that no one batted an eyelid.
Jack: It's something I experienced as well, to be honest, but Scandinavians seem to be very sensitive underneath the shell. The harder the shell is, it seems, the more fragile underneath. It's a new set of social rules we need to learn, I guess, when we go to a different country.
Tom: You're right, of course. And despite all my problems, I miss Denmark so much, it's like having a constant stomachache.
Jack: I know what you mean. There are things that I really love there. First, the tap water is drinkable. Then the Metro is gorgeous. It's a pleasure to go by train, as the trains are cute inside.
Tom: What is more, the sky is often starry, because there's little pollution. The air is pretty good. The thing is, I haven't been happy . I've gotten to the point that I consider myself more Danish than I do American. But I wonder if it will be difficult to make new friends.
Jack: I have friends who live there now who say it's quite hard to make friends or get into their circle: But, I think, it depends.
Tom: Ideally I plan to move in January. Yes, I know it's the coldest month but if I don't do it then, I'll get all wrapped up in our city's big spring festival and then the football season begins, then my birthday ... you get the idea - and never ...
Jack: Yes, and this will also give you enough time to get a visa.
